SiG Lady
Now Eugene, Oregon may be politically stuffed, but you sometimes have to love the month of May here with the rhododendron and myriad other delectable scenery manifestations that occur here year after year (we have nice fall seasons, too). This little scene is just a small portion of a protected area (The Delta Ponds) in my neighborhood (one of my reasons for moving to the Valley River neighborhood) that can be picture-perfect many times around the year. May is its greenest, however. Dig it... And this is only a half-mile from my house......
benos
That's beautiful - and nice drop-shadow as well.
SiG Lady
What I was trying to do was get an invisible blend of background color (copping the hex-color code from this page #F5F9FD), but it's still a little off... But you get the idea. It shows perfectly in the preview mode, however......
TriggerT
GOD I'm jealous!!! I'm stuck in the fricking midwest. Maybe one day I will get back out to where the air doesn't stink.
SiG Lady
A decade or so ago this place REEKED from the lumber mills!! Absolutely REEKED! Moreover, all my silver jewelry would tarnish completely within two hours of being outside in it (and to think I was breathing this stuff!!); but they put scrubbers on all the mills in the interim and there is no odor here at all any more. So when I returned here in 1993, my silver jewelry breathed (as it were) a sigh of relief. Though I occasionally have dip-s**t issues with Eugene and how its economy and things operate, it's got to be one of the prettiest little places (in the lower-48 anyway) I've ever lived. BDH
Waaaayyyyyy coooool!!! I hope to move West some day. Hopefully, a few more years (decades? ) slaving away will give Mrs BDH and I that opportunity....

Garfield
I hate it when you post nice pics like that . ... so, as I am working at home today, I just took a pic out of my attic window : This is my "extended front garden" where our kids play every day (no dogs allowed, so it's clean). And it's only 10 minutes walking from the city centre.
rhino
GOD I'm jealous!!! I'm stuck in the fricking midwest. Maybe one day I will get back out to where the air doesn't stink. Where in the midwest? My air smells great here in Indiana! (the "Region" is more a part of Chicago than it is part of Indiana, so I don't count it). Nice photo, S-Lady! SiG Lady
"... so, as I am working at home today, I just took a pic out of my attic window..." Zoiks, he lives in a freaking enchanted garden...! Here's a view from the southwest hills of Eugene looking northeast at the Coburg Hills... ...The aerial views will be next...
SiG Lady
Here's that same view from a slightly lower elevation... This view is no longer accessible exactly as you see it; there has been private residential development done there since the photos. I just happened to get there right after the infrastructure went in and before the lots were sold. The cost of these view lots alone equalled the entire cost of a reasonable home elsewhere. Nik Habicht
AAAARRRGGGHHHH! I've got to get out of the city..... On the bright side --- only 11 more months to the next Tulip season --- when our place looks its best...
SiG Lady
...and the tulip season is SOOOOOO short... Here's a biking path view near Ferry Street Bridge... near center of town and two or three parks. There are restaurants along this walkway--with views out to this scene. It's the Willamette River. SiG Lady
Here's the Willamette River as it winds in a circle around the big piece of property we're sitting on... just a few hundred yards behind the complex here....... paved walkways, benches to sit on......
