Andrew B
I opened a new thread on this as it is really a new topic and thanks to Shooter Grrl, it now has pictures. My last thread on the STI Custom shop was just whining about having to wait. I'm good at whining, bad at waiting. Got the gun last Friday. Hooray!! I ordered it on 02/06/2004 and received it on 05/14/2004. Not really that bad - longer than promised, but not forever. Just seems like forever when you are waiting. It's a STInger with a T2 comp - one more port than the standard gun and a bomar cut to lighten the slide. I also had STI put the V6 port cuts in the slide in case I want to add the ports later. Attractive, balances well, is a little shorter than the Brazos ProSX or the Dawson Minigun. The PRO SX is actually a little lighter even through it's longer. Didn't check the Minigun weight Came with a 4 pound trigger. Never shot it with that. Knew it would come that way, so I had ordered a hammer/sear/springs group from Brazos. That went 1.5 pounds out of the package with a crisp, clean break - perfect. Did not have to muck with it at all. Bob Londrigan is THE trigger guru as far as I am concerned. Gun chronoes exactly the same as the Minigun and the PRO SX. I chronoed 10.5 grs VV N105 at 1.235 oal at 80 degrees with a Montana Gold 124 JHP and got 1376 fps out of the ProSX and 1375 out of the STInger. The STInger has less barrell but the PROsx is ported. Seems to trade off. I put 300 rounds of major through it on Sunday. First impression was that it does not have the face blast that the ported guns have and that it seems to shoot at least as soft. Handles well. Is not quite as accurate as a Brazos or Dawson, but is certianly more than adequate. I can shoot sub inch groups with the other guns at 25 yards from a rest - this one spreads just a little more than that. I will work with different loads to see if I can tighten that up. When you are shooting stages, you don't notice the face blast. I got the STI custom shop serrations - the saber cuts. This is now my favorite rear serrations on any gun I own. They are cool looking and very aggressive - necessary on a gun with a scope. There are some tool marks inside the slide and on the front of the slide where the breechface is cut - not functional issues, but not perfection either. I ordered it with a supercomp Aftec, but the gun came with an Aftec 38 super extractor. Good thing STI was shut at 2pm on Friday cause I wasn't happy about that. I had a chance to calm down this weekend, I shot it and am satisfied with how it came out and STI will make it right, so it's not a permanent issue. Overall, I rate it a good value, accurate, flat/soft shooting and fun.

diehli
Sweet looking pistolas. Interesting to notice the difference between scope mount heights and the corresponding ejection port lowering depths... though Dawson's port doesn't seem to be as low as Brazos' the scope heights are the same. Different tuning standards and ways of accounting for any possible problems (it looks like Bob builds in a contingency plan... a good thing IMO). Maybe I'm just reading WAY too much into it. I guess my main point is: holy shjt that STI scope mount is HIGH!
DRamsey
I have a STI Competitor. I had to replace the scope mount, because the scope was sitting soooo high. It looks like the scope on your custom shop is sitting much higher than the scopes on the other guns. What do you think? DavidR
Interceptor
sabre cuts are sweet, never have seen those before.

I guess my main point is: holy shjt that STI scope mount is HIGH! That's the first thing I noticed too. I suppose since it flips higher than the others then having your head higher is better - just looking at the advantage. Is there one? Nice blaster man, if I was the owner that scope mount gets traded in for a much low profile one. Can it be that the holes are drilled too high? josh
warpspeed
What I really like on the Brazos and STI is how they have made a custom reverse plug that is flush. Much cleaner than the Dawson gun.
shred
BTW, the Brazos & STI have commander-sized recoil systems. The Dawson has a long rod & spring setup. AFAIK, it's got something to do with the extra 0.30" slide stroke. Handy if you want to slap some tungsten weight in there, not handy if you don't want any extra nose-weight. So long as either works, it probably doesn't matter much.
DaG
AndrewB, I was just wondering what factors made you decide to go with a T2 comp? I got my STInger last week with the S1 and it seems to shoot alot flatter than my SV with 3 chambers and 4 lateral ports. DaG
