The Discovery HD Channel

I just love the Discovery Hi-Def channel. Last night I caught a total solar eclipse shot in HD from Antarctica. Shooting that up on the 92" screen is just completely awesome....

Now if they would just start doing more HD programming. :( After all, you can only watch so many solar eclipses..... ;)

I'm moving in with BDH!  Send all of my mail to his house!

Come on down big boy! :o Although, make sure you sew up your pants, and no comments about "laying on your back and rubbing your belly" in front of Mrs. BDH or she might get the wrong idea. In fact, you would be welcome here as Mrs. BDH is taking on a Stats role again this this year, so you could help 'coach' her. B)

Of course what I really use this for is watching my Matt B. and US Open Nationals DVD's. Projecting it helps my old eyes see the finer points of the Big Dawgs. Now, if I could just somehow adopt those 'finer points' into MY shooting! :(

Also, I promise that Troy, Gary and I will only watch my World Shoot video this weekend (hmmm, where DID I put that 'Girls N Guns' video...)

Man, I am ADDICTED to HD programming! And Discovery HD is on my TV easily 50% of the time that the set is on.

From what I've read here, Shooting Gallery will soon be bradcast in HD...

Chet,

Once you go HD, it's tough to go back. B)

How are you bringing it in, and what other HD channels do you receive? You aren't on the ALL HD Zoom network are you??

I'm coming in on DirecTV sat, and only have the basic HD package (4 channels).

I'm receiving my HD programming through Time Warner Cable. They have provided me with an Explorer 8000HD-DVR system (digital video recorder, like TiVo) which then feeds my Pioneer PDP4341HD.

We have Discovery HD, Fox HD, ABC HD (KVUE), CBS HD (KEYE), HBO HD, INHD, INHD2, HDNet, HDNet Movies, PBS HD (KLRU) & Showtime HD. More are on the way...

We had a Toshiba SD-5960 DVD player which did an upconversion to HD resolutions and sent uncompressed video and audio via HDMI for playing DVD's. It looked fantastic when it worked, but was too flaky to live with (unresponsive buttons on the unit and the remote, many DVD's wouldn't read, stoppages in the middle of play...).

So now we're looking at the Pioneer DV59-AVi to replace it.
