bbbean
I'd like to use the 4X4 frame we built for 99-50 to mount soft cover for a couple of targets. What's the best material to use that won't simply have a ragged hole over the A zone after a few shooters, giving later shooters an advantage over earlier shooters? Jim Norman
Almost any material that is used will show up with visible markings on it. Maybe black burlap? We've used a black plastic but after time you can see the holes back lit and get an advantage.
Graham Smith
This is one of the main reasons the idea doesn't much appeal to me.
JFlowers
Snow Fencing (bright orange wide criss-cross material) seems to be real popular as soft cover in the South. Guess its cause we don't have much other use for it.

bbbean
Barry...CM 99-50 was retired 8/23/2011. See latest update/top entry... Classifiers We know. That's why we're trying to find a use for the 4X4 frame we built. They retired the classifier between the time we picked and announced it and our match date (this past weekend). Frustrating. Mark R
Just put some netting on it and use it as a wall...put some low lay-back targets behind it and shoot over it.

How can that be used for soft cover? You can clearly see through it.
LJE
Black fiberglass "weed guard" sold in garden centers. I have used this on a soft cover target for an Area 8 Championship and it held up well. Start with at least 5 layers and add more as required. When penetrated by a bullet, the woven mesh leaves threads waving in the breeze and helps obscure vision longer. We used very sturdy supports for the mesh and wrapped layers around the posts forming a front and back layer spaced apart. This spacing also helps obscure vision longer. We replenished the layers about twice a day. Larry
