This entire discussion is problematic until we can consistently define "behind the hip bone"...

large flaring bone forming one half of the pelvis that is directly under your armpit when standing erect? I consider "15" the hipbone, but we have too many people that feel forward and call "16" the hipbone.

The rulebook has a drawing that makes it pretty clear that the rules are contemplating point #16 as the "hipbone."

When in doubt, read and view the entire rulebook. The answer is usually there.

Two answers and they're conflicting. See my point?

The IPSC rulebook actually DOES have a good picture that defines it well-- including a straight line drawn from the forward most points of the hips across each other, behind which all equipment must reside.

When I use that "IPSC line", my pouches are a good 2-3" further back than if I just index off the forward part of the hip. Yes, they curve around that much.

Even if we use #16 from the diagram, drawing a line straight OUTWARD from each point that equipment cannot cross is vastly different than drawing a line BETWEEN those points (flush across the front of the body).
