Removing brake from JP barrel

Anything to watch out for when removing the Bennie Cooley "blended" brake from a JP barrel?

Is application of heat a must, or is it a simple twist off job, with the brake held on with blue loctite?

I posted a similar question before...if you search you may find the discussion.

I just ended up putting some tape on the brake and twisting it off without heat. It worked fine--and didn't require an excessive amount of force. The carbon that built up on the crown came off in one chunk, making cleaning easy. After that it was just a matter of screwing it back on.
