AGlock36
I did some searches and got a ton of info but not exactly what I was looking for. I will be cleaning my Para this weekend for the first time and applying some slide glide #1 that I got with my book today. WOOHOO. Are there any tips or tricks that will make this go well. I dont know all of the names of the parts of the gun yet so please try to use a non techie term LOL if there are any. Thanks in advance for all of your help. Paul Franklin. texasag93
First I purposefully lubed mine up and shot almost 1000 rounds through it to see how well it really worked. I ran a nylon brush through the barrel and cleaned up the feed ramp. Gun felt as slick as when I first cleaned it. OK, my way may not be the best but here goes. Clean as usual. Apply SG to the rails of the slide front to back. I keep it minimal, a little goes a long way. Cover the pin and little swingy thing under the barrel. Lube up the guide rod, little on the recoil spring and barrel bushing(metal O-ring that goes in front of barrel). The interior of the slide just infront of the ejection port where the barrel lugs seat. Put a thin coat all along the exterior of the barrel. Assemble as usual and enjoy. It will ooze out when you reassemble and cycle the action. Wipe off excess. It will continue to ozze as you fire your pistol. SG will also turn a grayish-black with time. Don't worry, it is still working. Hope this helps. TXAG

TBF
A thin film between all the parts that rub on each other. Wipe off the excess after assembly. " A thin film " is somewhere between gobs and barely any, leaning more toward gobs. A sign you are using a bit much is that the feed ramp is getting lubed on a regular basis, even after firing 100 or so rounds and using a bore snake to wipe the feed ramp. You will like it. Travis F. sgrc1
Ok, so I got cleaning the top end pretty good... after experiencing many ways and products for cleaning and unfortunatly having a malfunction due to not cleaning the gun at the important places (at the 04 USPS Nationals)!. I do the following: take apart the top end every few thousand rounds, spray down with break free fluid (any brand), use a soft brush and Q-tips to go to the firing pin channel, extractor channel, etc.. wipe of with soft cloth or paper towels and apply slide glide No 1 to all moving parts just as BE says, havent had a single problem after adopting this method. The question is: How do you guys clean the bottom end?, and I refer to the trigger group.. do you dissasemble the trigger group, mainspring housing often?, and what method do you use for cleaning, lubing (if any), etc..
