Stage- Mozambique x 6

Recommended Posts

Had to come up with a last minute stage for tomorrow in one of our small, narrow bays. In keeping with a re-kindled post in the USPSA rules section on Mozambique targets I put this one together. The setup and RO instructions are long to help with questions. Any thoughts or suggestions? Legal (pretty sure it is but want other eyes look it over)?

Edit- Updated file with suggestions below.

No such thing as an FTE, the rules have changed. You get a procedural for failing to shoot at a target. Although your stage is simulating a Mozambique, they are in fact two separate targets, and are scored as such, shooting T 4 does not meet the requirement of shooting at T-3, and as such separate penalties should apply.

In actual practice a case could be made that a shooter shot T-4 once and shot at T-3 once but just missed and both shots hit T 4, they are so close together no way an RO could say which he shot "at" so in actual practice it would end up being scored as you put in the WSB as long as the shooter fired two shots "at" the pair. Firing a single shot and hitting T4 should be scored a procedural for not shooting at T-3 or vice versa

Mikes score twice the highest scoring value as a penalty. That would mean a -10 and not a -5 per mike. (9.4.4)

There is no way to make two targets count as one target. There is a specific rule that you can't make one target two targets (4.1.5) but none stating the reverse.

FTE's count for "each scoring target" so no doubling up to make two targets only incur 1 fte if either of them is not shot. If both are not engaged then it's 2 FTEs. (9.5.7)

Changed the file.

Thanks, forgot the term had gone away and is now a statement (was easier with a term). This is a level 1 match with different ROs so trying to be as explicit as possible to make it easier, but need to stay legal and correct terms. Thanks.

Brain cramp on the -5s! That is what I had down, 1 per but cleared it up in the RO notes (I hope!)

Trying to add something a little different in a small bay where the stage otherwise would be a bit mundane. Besides, it is sort of old school and easy to set up. Plenty of work in the other stages! Gotta go out to the garage and cut up some targets and paint some others.

  • 1 month later...

Tim...instead of black hardcover between two targets, try turning a no-shoot upside down and use it in place of the hardcover...now you have two targets/scoring areas delineated by a no-shoot. And it saves on paint.

Try this... you don't have to add any extra verbiage to the WSB, as it is obviously two separate targets.

I like it! Still need to add some verbiage to the WSB about only 1 shot needed for the targets which have only A-B zones available.
