dv8
I can't believe I am going to say this, but here it is: I always loved CZs, I've got one for Prod, one for Lim, and one for Open, plus a Kadet. And I am about to ab-bb-bandon them all and buy myself a G-GG-Glock... Ok, I think I am still alive. What happened is that I've become a little faster lately and discovered that faster target transitions are easier with a lighter gun. Also, I discovered that I can register Glock's sight picture faster than my CZ Combat's. Another important factor is that I am not that bad with double action anymore, since I practiced dryfiring my CZ Combat a lot, so Glock's trigger doesn't scare me anymore. And the last, but not the least, every time I had a chance to shoot a Glock, both Glock and I did surprisingly well... What I want: 1) I want to shoot the same gun for Production and L10 for a few seazons. My primary focus is on Production division, but sometimes I will shoot L10, and Limited if I can get some mags. 2) I want to shoot same 40SW in all three divisions - I am sick and tired of poppers standing and laughing in my face after I hit em more than once already. I want to aim at their fat bellies, squeeze, and move on. And I don't want to be scored Minor when I shoot L10/L. Questions: 1) With primary focus on Prod Division, which model would you recommend: G22 or G35? Why? 2) Does USPSA allow extended mag release on G22 for Prod? 3) Does USPSA allow aftermarket heavy guide rod for Prod? If yes, which would you recommend? 4) Which mags to buy and which to avoid? (Including hi caps) 5) What Prod Div allowed modifications you consider to be a must? Trigger pull, springs, sights, ... ? Whose parts and/or services would you recommend for these modifications? 6) Which holster? (Production, production, production... Oh, and it will have to go with my CR Speed belt of course). 7) Can you recommend a good major snappy load and a recoil spring weight (and brand) to go with it? 8) Did I miss something? (Besides that disgusting orange pepper popper last Sunday?) In other words, if you had to start over and gear yourself up, what would you do? Custom Glock Racing
1. G35. BEtter balance, more weight to soften the gun, longer sight radius 2. Yes. G22s have been available with it from teh factory so its legal. 3. Yes, I use and reccomend the THE tungsten rods. If you use a 34/35 I use the Extended Tungsten rods from THE. 4. Buy factory, avoid others. 5. Sights, trigger rod.springs I consider mandatory. I would obviously reccomond CGR for your parts and gun work. 6. Comptac locking paddle. 7. I cand give out specific load data but. Zero 180jhp OAL 1.125 Viht N320 - only if you have a good barrel like Barsto. Vhit N340 if you use a factory barrel Start with an ISMI 15 spring. see the Spring Wars aritcle for more spring and rod info at http://www.custom-glock.com/glocktech.html 8. I would also add a magwell that you can easily take on and off when switching from Prod to Lim. I would also go with a THE extended mag catch. Its a factory unit with an extended CNCed aluminum button that extends out and to the rear. Its legal for Lim and can be easily removed with two screws for prod. You can add a heavy guide rod in Production Divison??!! I am surprised!
rhino
6) Which holster? (Production, production, production... Oh, and it will have to go with my CR Speed belt of course). 1. Ky-Tac "SooperHooper" 2. Blade-Tech "dropped, offset" belt scabbard
dv8
Well, I am not sure about that heavy rod for production div either, but I gonna get it anyway - gotta try it out. I already ordered the Bladetech, thanks for the suggestion. Can anybody point at a good source for preban mags for my new beautifull shiny G-GG-Glock? (I think I gonna paint it green and purple polka-dot, what do you guys think?)
Custom Glock Racing
Well I am sure about the heavy rod in Production division. I have shot 2 nationals and a ton of area matches with it. It does not put he overal weight of the gun more than 2 ounces over and it was specifically approved for use in Production by Amidon when they came out in 2001. So have no fear, they are legal. If you are going to the Bladetech DOH make sure that you can pass the 50mm test.
dv8
Thanks a lot, Matt - that's good to know. I think I gonna play with the gun for a few days and then decide what to do with the trigger and sights. The factory sights are so much easier to read than my CZ factory sights that I don't feel at this point any need to upgrade, and when and if I do, the biggest concern would be to stay Prod Div legal. Now, off to mags quest... BTW, does anyone have any experience with the Scherer tubes, do they work, do they drop free?
glockman30
Dv8, Ok now, lets try saying "Glock". Next, a little louder "Glock". Now say it loud and proud "GLOCK"!!! Now, doesn't that feel better?

G-GG-GGG-Gloock! If seriously though, I have to say that my CZs weight is a limitation, well for me that is. Also, the front sight (to which I don't know any alternative within Production rules) is difficult to read in less than perfect light conditions. My attitude to Glocks changed from "I hate it" to "Lets give it a try" within last year, so my CZs will probably stay clean for some while. twix
I use a Glock 35 for Production and L10. I use the same DOH Bladetech holster from the same position on a CR Speed belt, even though I have a faster holster I could use for L10. I have a THE brass magwell which really helps with felt recoil shooting major loads and with reloads, but I don't use it. If I went to exclusively Limited I would defintely put it on. I have a CGR Top Fuel trigger. Very nice. CGR also fitted a Bar-sto barrell. It is very accurate. I use a tungsten guide rod with 13 or 15 # ISMI springs. I wrap the grip with the tape like CGR sells, very "grippy". You can do home trigger jobs pretty cheap, you don't really need a Bar-sto. It probably just won't be as nice. It's all in how much you want to spend. I know I do have a really nice gun that is compettitive in 3 divisions, even if the shooter always isn't. If I had the money I'd by a Brazos tuned STI or have my local smith build me something similar. But I'd keep my Glock for a reeally sweet Procuction gun. Glock on.
