TexasShootR
Today I went to the range to chrono my new 180 MG and VV N320 powder. I'm taking my time and making record of OAL and FPS for every bullet. Even taking note of where the bullet hits the target. I noticed the accuracy seemed to be getting better with a higher powder grain count but nothing to write home about. That's when it occurred to me I wasn't following my front sight through recoil back to target. Normally I would have been but firing one shot at a time through the chrono it never occurred to me to do so. I would shoot then look at the target with gun lowered. Got to thinking about it and realized I should be tracking the sight always, even if it's just one shot at a time. Guess what my target hits got a lot smaller. Must be something to do with better form. Well it's a little thing I noticed today but something I feel will help me to become a better shooter. Powder Finger
Good observation and lesson. FWIW I separate these things, when checking speed that's all I do, I'm not seeing how it groups. The target is just a place holder so the bullets cross the screen about the same. When group shooting to test ammo I pay little attention to recoil, sight movement, etc..... Then when practicing well that's what you do, work on problems, things to try etc..... When shooting a stage at a match you just watch and see if all of the above helped you out. I may see things during "the home work" part of this game like you did, but I don't necessarily incorperate it into that task.
Flexmoney
I call that prairie dog'in. ... looking over the gun when you fire to see the hits. It doesn't take long before it's not just the head coming up, but also the gun dropping down...as the shot is fired. Result is low hits/misses. I especially see it with shooters on steel. I guess everybody wants to see their results (or lack of). So, yep...stay with the execution. Let the results take care of themselves. Thanks for sharing.
