Since I started shooting matches in 2010 there has been a friend (college freshman) that has been asking about shooting. He has done exactly what my brother and I suggested and bought a 22/45 to play with for a while and decide if he liked shooting enough to make the needed commitment in gear to shoot matches with us. He bought the 22/45 I think sometime around last Thanksgiving and has been wearing the thing out on some family land.

A couple weeks ago he really starts looking around to decide on a 9mm for production division and settles on a M&P Pro. Since that is what I shoot and he doesn't have a belt, holster, or any of that stuff I let him use mine this past weekend for his first match and I borrowed my brother's Glock 34 setup to shoot with. We had about a hour and a half drive to this particular match, so I made use of the time to review the range commands and go over the primary safety rules. To be honest, I was a bit nervous about taking him, I am new to USPSA myself and I'm not sure why I was nervous but I was.

The match went without a hitch. He actually shot better than some of the other shooters who weren't new, and you would be hard pressed to tell that he had less than 100 rounds experience with any centerfire pistol. I think what made the experience so good for me was how the more experienced shooters in our squad took the extra time to make sure he was comfortable and not worried about screwing up. So, kudos to the guys at Rocket City Practical Shooters who shot with Jordan and I last Saturday. I can't say enough about the great group of folks up there.

If anyone has a M&P holster and/or mag pouches they need to get rid of I know a college student that needs some. I don't need to get used to that blasted glock!
