Classification calculation timing question?

I have a question about classifiers and how it is calculted when you move up. Mods, sorry if this should be in the classifier section. I pose this only because after yesterday I am sitting at about 73.9% and am wondering what will happen when that A card finally hits my hands.

Here is my question

Say your most recent eight scores(these arent mine but just theory) when you make A are

4 - 84's and 4 - 68's

You also have two 75's that arent within the most recent 8

This would equal out to 78.66

However now that you are an A the 68's are too low to count since they are more than 5% below your class.

Would the classification sytem go back in time to try and find scores that are within the 5%?

When does it do this? The current month or the next one?

If it did it in the current month the score(in my hypo) would go from 78.66 to 81 in the same month?

Can anyone help me out here?

I looked a little for an answer but didnt find one.

This may not help much, but for me they did not go back and 'un-validate' previously valid scores for being under my new class %-- it's only current-% at time of entry that matters. Once they're in, they're in.

It is my understanding the classification system doesn't resurrect flagged or old scores. In your scenario, two most recent low scores will not be flagged until higher scores (within the allowable range) come in to replace them. FWIW, it's not uncommon to see new scores flagged as too low that are actually higher than some of the scores being counted.

So will it continue to use the 68's or flag them as too low and only base the score on the ones that are in the right range?  This would only leave 4 scores to base the class on.

Short answer: Yes the 68's will be used, the 75's will not.

Discusson:

Scores are only judged 'valid' for classification once-- at entry time. If it's in the percentage band to be a valid score for you when they enter it (your classification does not get recalculated until after all the scores for that month are entered), and not lower than a previous score on the same classifier in it goes as valid and stays that way until it expires naturally due to not being in the most recent eight or being replaced by a better score on the same course. Previously expired scores are not resurrected after they expire.

Check out somebody that's been moving up in one division, but has old scores in another.. They're still flagged as valid even though they may be way out of the classification band for that shooter.

Example:

OPEN Class: M Current Pct: 87.758 High Percent: 87.758

LIMITED Class: A Current Pct: 62.192 High Percent: 62.192

LIMITED Classifiers

Date Number Club F Percent Entered

11/21/99 99-02 TEXAS ACTION SHOOTING CLUB Y 74.5650 11/30/99

11/21/99 99-08 TEXAS ACTION SHOOTING CLUB Y 63.6220 11/30/99

11/21/99 99-62 TEXAS ACTION SHOOTING CLUB Y 55.4660 11/30/99

Thanks shred

I get the idea. I would then assume that the scores are judged valid initially then the two lowest out of the most recent 8 VALID scores are then tossed during that period. So basically for a little while those lower than acceptable scores are going to be used until new scores that are within class can replace them. Old 68's would be used while new 68's wont be.

You've got it. They enter all the scores, then run the classification program that picks the best 6 of the 8 valid ones (it is possible to use one of the 'bottom two' scores again-- they're still valid, just not used) and cranks out a %. If that's good enough, you move up, cards are mailed and general revelry ensues.
