ChristianHE
I had shot my Grendel out to 600 yds a few times, but this weekend I got to shoot out to 800 yards with my LR-308/Fulton Armory .308 Frankengun. It makes 5-leaf clovers at 100 yds with 168 gr Hornady's so I knew it was a goodie- but I'd only used it out to 200 yds, where it was zeroed. Time to qualify for "open shooting" at the range. So I go to biggame . com and get my dope after chronoing a batch. Wow, 240 inches of drop at 800 yds (F/A 18.5 barrel, 168 grain HPBT's going 2480). Sat AM is cool and just a little tailwind. I dial in my 8.32 MIL of elevation (83 clicks on my 1/10-MIL-click 10x Nightforce). using a bipod and squeeze bag under my grip, exhale, fire. Spotter radios back "20 inches high, 16 inches right". (had a decent tailwind kind of from the left by the time it was my turn) Make one adjustment. "four inches over X, 12:00". Guys with bolt guns were like "hmm, pretty decent gas gun". Then it's open shooting time. I go back to 600 yards and shoot a 5.5" group. These rounds weren't even trickled. FUN. I'll be back. With new Lapua brass and trickled rounds...
