Tri County Gun Club, Polo IL

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of hitting up the Tri County Gun Club in Polo IL this weekend for the USPSA match and was wondering if anyone here have been there or frequent there? This would be my first time at that range so just looking for some information about the club and how it is. Thanks in advance!

It's a great place to shoot.... you will love it. WE held Area 5 there last year. Dale Hayen is the Club prez and a hell of a nice guy. Weather permitting, I will be there this weekend. I plan on helping them setup on Sat and either shooting or ROing/Stats on Sunday. My wrist is acting up and shooting hurts like hell. Anyway, make sure to say hello. Look for the guy sporting the most fully developed beer storage facility and that will be me. :)

It can be a little hard to find.... do you have GPS?

Great place and great people. You know this is a 3 gun match? usually 4-5 pistol stages in the AM then break for lunch (which they provide) then 2 shotgun and 2 rifle stages after lunch.

Yeah I wrote the one that runs the IPSC matches and asked if I could shoot the Pistol courses and they said that is fine and I guess I'm not the only one lol. I just want to get some more practice in prior to Area 5 in June. I also would love to see how 3 gun runs.

Thanks JT I will make sure to say hello. My dad and the guys he shoots with told me it was a great club and part of the reason I wanted to hit it up. It gets pricy driving down to IN to shoot with those guys every weekend there is a shoot lol. And yep I got the good ol gps... Sadly I have two as the one that came with the car I drive has maps from the stone ages and it costs an arm and a leg to buy new maps for it so I have the garmin as back up. So if all goes well I will be seeing you guys Sunday!

Yep, nice place, nice match, nice people.

No problem if you want to just shoot the pistol match in the morning and not the shotgun and rifle in the afternoon. However the long guns are at least as fun as the pistol if not more so you will want to try them soon! Also fine if you want to shoot one long gun and not the other.

Thanks Eric.. You now have me wondering if I should pack my Maxus and bring it along with me and shoot the Shotgun stages. Just don't know what I need to bring to shoot a 3 gun style shotgun stage... Time to hit up the shotgun section of this forum! :goof:

Walmart promo loads 7 1/2 or 8. Two boxes.

Something to hold your ammo for reloading (can start with a 5$ shotshell belt but will want shellholders later).

Extended mag tube. (certainly can shoot without this but will have to load often).

Thats it!

Club web site would say if we had a slug stage which it does not this week.

Crazy good time yesterday! Thanks to everyone here for giving me the push to venture out that way it was a good time! Squad 3 was a blast and everyone was cool to shoot with. Now I just need to get a rifle and look for a new shotgun :D

Happy you enjoyed it. I've been shooting and working there since 1979.

JT did not mention it, but we will be hosting Area 5 next year.

Its a really great club thats for sure.. And I will for sure be there next year for Area 5.

Gary Stevens has asked whomever is elected to honor that agreement and take a load of their plate the first year too, but there is nothing that holds them to that deal.

We plan on speaking to the parties involved at A5 this year and see if we can lock it in by speaking with all the candidates.
