Dryfire practice has been paying off. My splits are getting better and i'm seeing improvement every week. Very happy with my performance so far but I still have a mountain of work to do to get to the level I want to be at. I really need to work on strong hand and really work on my left hand...left hand is not good at all (see video below - where's the dot?) :roflol:

Shot CM03-08 MADNESS on Wed.

did great on the other 3 stages...got to the qualifier stage and the mag didn't fall free, had to pull it out by hand and then reload...fun stuff. :angry2:

I've shot 8 qualifiers now...only 2 with no problems, mikes or no shoots. Other 6...not good at all. I'd rather not tank any stages or tank the rest and kill the qualifier.

Looks like i'll be sandbagging D Open for a while!! :roflol:

NOT!!!!!!!

Congrats on making the team!

I've shot Madness twice. First one I threw a NS on one of the easier shots. Second time I threw a NS on the middle target, shot the next one, wondered if I had threw the NS, and kept shooting at the last two targets while staring straight at the hole I made in the white target. I got 2 charlies on the last 2 targets, I thought that was pretty cool.

So, don't feel too bad ;)

Right :roflol:

I left one thing out on my post above. I only loaded my mags to 7 rounds instead of 8..so after I got the reload done.. "click". :roflol: Had to rack the slide...

For some reason I always feel compelled to throw up an extra shot on virgina stages...to avoid this, I tried simple math..... had a brain fart and forgot the 8th round for the reload :roflol: FAIL!!!

If I could have converted the stage into "Beers math"..I would have been fine. How many Beers will it take to dryfire the course with a par timer in an hour... 8 Beers, restroom break..7 more

Do your mags drop free with rounds in them? I'll always load the big stick up and maybe download it a few rounds so there is still plenty of weight when it's time to drop a mag on a reload during a classifier. Plus, the gun should balance the same as when you start any other stage during.

Just a couple thoughts.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated!!!

Normally yes, but i'm new still and i've tanked all my clissifers by shooting no shoots on accident or mikes or shooting an extra round on virginia count so I tried a different approach to refrain from doing the extra shot thing and lost again!! hahahaha... and this last qualifier was at Scottsdale Gun Club an indoor range witha slippery concrete floor and was worried that leaving extra rounds in my $120.00 magazine hitting the floor I was trying to prevent damage to the mag... I lost on all accounts LOL :roflol:

Just watched your stage three out at Cactus vid. If you lose the dot and there are no no-shoots in the neighborhood just fire a round off. The dot will often come into the lens under recoil. If however there is a no-shoot anywhere in the zip code and you don't know where your dot is pointing, it is absolutely, positively pointing directly at the no-shoot.

At some point I decided some little things that I now consider my rules. I never question them and always follow them.... Regardless of the $.

1. Magazines are always loaded to "reloadable capacity".

2. I drop a mag when required. I give no thought to the

surface it hits. Yeah it could be $, but in 6 years and

some concrete, it hasn't been anything but peace of

mind.

3. If I use a mag during a stage it is emptied, cleaned,

Inspected and reloaded before the next stage.

I really like your posts. Keep them coming. Remember how long it took you to be a Rock Monster Guitar player? You WILL master this too!!! You are on the right path!!

Here's a couple vids of the bad "MOTIVE". We put out 5 CD's and did 5 US Tours (Thrash Metal Content :roflol: )

Vid of my band before I whacked all my hair off

Video of my bands last show.. now that the hair is gone out comes the hat hahahahahaaa

I'm working on more dryfire exercises. Watching Burkett Vids, reloading more ammo and working my reloads with a par timer on my belt walking around the house...

I'll get there in due time. I need to not rush this.. i've been shooting my whole life but this is a whole new world to me.

Thanks for all your help, input and advise guys...VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

CD's we had 2 that were recorded really well and sound great. One is more raw sounding and all the reviews said it was more thrash metal than the others.

Motive - Worn Down Dream

Motive - Rock N Roll Terrorist

RNRT is probably my fav though, both are avail on itunes

So...let's talk about stage 2 :roflol:

Easy ass stage, fast... 3 boxes, 3 plates, 2 on each.. so 1st time doing the stage I only shot plate 1 then went to box 2....oooooops

Fun run....hey Randy...do that again...OK! :surprise: hahahahaahahahaa

The whole purpose of the 2nd run through the stages was to do better...not make the same mistake twice on the same stage jackass!!! :roflol::surprise::angry2:

All my shots were low and I couldn't hit crap!!!, I put a pretty good dent on the lower plate rack, my good buddy Joe DePetro said all of my shots were way low. So I asked for some help to re-zero the dot. He had teh tools and helped a brotha out!! Gun was shooting 6" low and to the 3-4" to the right... so after that was done we had just enough time to shoot one more stage. :roflol:

So on the last stage now that the gun is shooting straight I realized 2 things.... i'm still hammering my trigger like my old Glock and my shooting on the move is like watching a crippled horse. :roflol:

Hi my name is Randy and i'm shooting 29% in Open D. I used to have a problem last month thinking the Classifiers "were the one that counts" and i'd choke them. So I got over that little fear but now realized I have another fear...weak hand shooting. So between weak hand, virginia count and fear of blowing both of them..i'm choking all my qualifiers and i'm starting to get pissed about it!!

Seems like almost every classifier i've shot the last 3 months outside of 2 or 3..have had weak hand strings. I mean..Speed, Accuracy and Power ... but weak handed to rank you on Nationally, doesn't seem accurate to me IMHO. I hardly ever see stages "other than the classifier" with weak hand shooting..very rare, it's all run and gun...speed is king. If they're gonna rank us on times and high hit factor for the classifer stage why is it almost all the other stages have no weak hand shooting but always the classifer does...i'll tell you why, WEAK HAND SHOOTING SUCKS!! :roflol: Always trying to keep an Old Man down!!

I get emails from 2 ranges, one tells us what the qualifier stage is...before I even look it up I say..$10 it's a weak hand stage...look it up and whammo...then I have to make a decision, drive an Hour to the range to pay money to shoot 3-4 stages that are fun as hell and I learn a truckload and go into turtle mode to bay 1 for the weak hand stage I know i'm going to tank because my daddy didn't teach me weak hand shooting when I was 7 :roflol:

Personally, I think every match should have a course of fire that has a weak hand string ...fine, but don't grade my ass on it...no wonder I'll be shooting D Open at 29%

Guess I need to start doing weak hand only, virginia count, hard cover-no shoot live fire drills instead of Freestyle, draw-fire, target transition drills and focus on these for a few months...

Like tomorrow 6/28 - it'll be 115 degrees out, drive an hour, pay money, get rushed through the stages and guess what the qualifier is...a weak hand string that will sink my score even more than I suck already... :roflol:

Practice weakhand until it is a strength. It is a way to pull away from generally equal shooters both on classifiers and match stages. As some general advice, don't move away from your weaknesses, move to them. Oh, did I mention you can look forward to Standards classifiers in your future?? :P

See you at TNS tomorrow ! It was a plesure to shoot with you the other day, wow, for only shooting as

long as you have your doing more then great.

As advice, all I can say is, can you play War Ensemble with your right arm, bicep, and wirst locked up as hard as it can be ?

If you dont break a string will you be able to finish the whole song ? :roflol:

Let the skills you have learned flow out and stop "trying". Try while practicing not during a match. We are all very guilty of this.

Going to matches just to focus on the classifier like that is a recipie for disaster, ask me how I know this ...

Shoot the classifier just as one of the other stages and let the chips fall where they may, that is the key to shooting to the top of "your" level, whatever that may be. While shooting, focus on the pressure of your grip, how clearly your seeing targets, how nicely your dot bounces, etc.. Anything other then speed, performance, outcome..

Remember, being a lead guitar player your already ahead of the pack because you know "how" to practice, it's just going to take some time. I think getting to the top of this game is as hard as learning to play Yngwie sweeps with your eyes closed. :roflol:

Ah hell, what do I know
