glocklover
I'm not sure what to buy or who to buy from for a Glock 9mm open gun. How do I know what kind of barrel I can use for 9mm major? Do manufactures specify that you can use it for major? Craig
Whitefish
Any number of barrel manufacturers make good barrels for use in Glock 9 major - KKM, BarSto, Jarvis, Briley to name a few. The important factors are the fit and the fully supported chamber. I have used KKM gunsmith fit barrels in three open Glocks in 9 major and they are all deadly accurate and fully support the case. Plan on paying a knowledgeable gunsmith to fit the barrel to your slide and frame and then to finish ream the chamber and rifling lead, and fit the comp. You will probably have to ream the rifling slightly if you plan to load longer to reduce pressure. Otherwise, if you load to 1.145" OAL with a 125 Zero JHP like I do, the round may not fully chamber because the bullet ogive is contacting the rifling. That is about as long as you can load to fit Glock 9mm mags and still be reliable. KKM barrels are noted for having a very tight chamber and barrel dimensions according to my gunsmith. You can get away with a drop-in barrel (depending), but then you take a chance on the tightness of the fit because Glocks vary with the barrel and slide/frame fit. Some will be good, some not so good.

I have loaded my 124gr RN out to 1.150 and have had no issues.
