Will a Choate Mag spring work with a Benelli M2 with a Nordic tube? Got an order going at midway - Nordic spring is out of stock but the Chote is avilable. Any reason it wouldn't work? It says in the description for Choate tubes only...

The choate should work as long as the length is what you need or longer.

You could always order the Nordic Spring from us directly or I believe Shooters Connection has the Nordic Spring in stock as well.

Thanks Tim, Do you offer lightweight shipping? Trying to not get a $8 spring with $10 in shipping.

Good question.....I don't know the answer to that one, I'm a little removed from retail now adays. I take care of Engineering. That is something that you'll have to ask Ryan about. you can call there on monday or email him at Ryan in Sales

Tim

PS....order 2 of them, so you have a spare

Thanks Tim. BTW, how often do you recommend changing the spring?

Well, if you are like me......when they stop working. Otherwise, it's pretty subjective.....you are taking a spring, and collapsing to a solid height every time you use it, so the life expectency is not a million cycles like a normal spring that only collapses to it's 'working' height. A good extention spring, made from chrome silicon steel will last longer than one made from music wire....like maybe 2x longer (but thats a guess).

Some people go thru 1 a year, some 2 a year.....others that really practice alot may change springs before a match. I would say if you think about the total number times you actually load the shotgun....15 to 20 times in a match? I've never really done a test....but I would think you can get 300 cycles? maybe more? And then plan accordingly?

Here is something interesting I just found out......My buddy Mr Darst, changes his spring when it becomes 3" to 4" shorter (in the free length) than when he installed it. He said, it may still work, but, he doesn't want to chance it any more at that point. He didn't know how many cycles that was either.

Interesting information to consider. Thanks for the info Tim. The spring I need isn't a replacement. It's for my 2nd Benelli. I had one of your tubes and end caps laying around so all I needed was a nut and spring to finish it out. I have been very happy with your products. I've been shooting 3 gun for 3 years, but there is a recent increased interest in my area - lots of new shooters gearing up. I recommend your products to anyone that asks. Thanks!
