XDman
OK, havent decided which I will use for 3 gun at this point, but for the handgun I have either a xd Tactical in a DOH Bladetech holster on a CR Speed belt, or an STI 2011 with a CR Speed Holster on a CR Speed belt. Is the CR Speed Holster allowed? What added pouches have others found that will work with these setups? I like the Safariland ELS combo, but want to shoot some 3 gun this year before spending the money on an entirely new setup.
prreed10
I use my CR Speed belt and mag pouches for 3 gun and it works fine. Some matches may not allow the CR Speed holster, depending on the rules. Two of my friends use the ELS - it is a PITA to set up, but once it's set up it is slick.
kampr
What division are you going to play in? From the SMM3G rulebook; 5.2 Open division 5.2.1 Handgun holsters must safely retain the handgun during vigorous movement. The belt upon which the handgun holster is attached must be worn at waist level. Shoulder holsters and cross draw holsters are prohibited. 5.3 Tactical Scope division 5.3.2 Handgun holsters must be a practical/tactical carry style and must safely retain the handgun during vigorous movement. The holster material must completely cover the trigger on all semiautomatic pistols. Revolver holsters must completely cover the trigger and the cylinder. The belt upon which the handgun holster is attached must be worn at waist level. Shoulder holsters and cross draw holsters are prohibited. Other matches rules may vary,.......... XDman
kampr, Good point. Currently my ar has NM open sights. So I will use this for at least my first few matches. Really need advice on shell holders and ar mag holders. The XD is Production, while the STI is LImited.
Jesse Tischauser
The BladeTech pro series mag pouches are nice. So are their AR mag pouches. I wouldn't use a ghost holster in 3 gun. The sport is to rigorous. You will drop your pistol eventually in one of those holsters. Your main concern should be keeping everything on you not fast mag changes or speedy draws like in USPSA pistol matches.

spd522
I use a Bladetech WRS duty holster for 3 gun. It has a thumb break and spring loaded retention strap. It is fast and I don't have to worry about the gun launching if I take a spill or it getting yanked out if hung up in a sling. I would rather sacrifice a split second of draw speed than risk a DQ for a dropped pistol. http://www.blade-tech.com/RH-WRS-DUTY-HOLSTER-DOH-ASR-pr-1153.html Craig
larry weeks
Even tho' they may not be permitted in some classes/matches my CR Speed holster holds the gun tighter than anything else I have - as long as the lock is engaged. I had to do some whittling on the lock and my 2011 to make sure the lock engaged fully (it was hanging up at the rear of the trigger guard area near the off side of the mag release). Plus, I spent quite a bit of time swapping spacers to take out slop but I believe you could pick me up by the gun's grip and it would stay in the holster. BUT, forget to put the lock on and if you breathe on it, it's out.

Still the chances of brushing up against a barricade, doorway, or any number of other props and having the safety disengage make the race holsters less than popular in most multigun matches.
