World Shoot - Muzzle Angles

From the IPSC Rulebook:

2.1.2.1. Subject to the direction and approval of the Regional Director, stage(s) or range specific muzzle angles (reduced or increased) may be approved. Full details of the applicable angles must be published in advance of the match and must be included in the written stage briefings (also see Section 2.3). Violations are subject to Rule 10.5.2.

I have seen some questions on Facebook concerning the way that some competitors perform reloads and whether these are permitted at the World Shoot. During the 1999 World Championships in Cebu, there was a written warning in the WSBs about pointing the muzzle above the backstop during loading/reloading/unloading, there was one warning given and the second violation resulted in a DQ.

I have asked the question on the IPSC Global Village to see if rule 2.1.2.1 is going to be in effect at the range in Rhodes. If so then those attending the WS may need to check their reload technique before heading over. I'll add an update here when I get a response from the organisers.

I just got a response from Vince Pinto on the Global Village to this question;

The answer is .... No.

Here is the link for those with membership on the Global Village --> CLICK

So this rule below is not in effect for the World Shoot, this rule can be used to restrict the competitor from pointing the muzzle above the backstop during reloads etc.:
