short_round
Has anyone had any experience with this brass. It's just now starting to show up on the range. I know the .45 ACP NT is not workable because it uses a small pistol primer size hole, but the .40 S&W NT appears dimensionally correct. Is there anything else to worry about? .40AET
For the most part, yes. I get Federal NT brass now and then. The primer is crimped in, and the primer pocket needs to be swaged or reamed to get back to normal. I have a case deburring tool that does a nice job. Sometimes the primers will go in, although tight. The Federal NT does use a small primer pocket. The stuff is a pain in the A**.
eric nielsen
Don't be shy about using the trash can as part of your ammo quality control. That's where NT cases go.
wide45
I am happy reloading .40 NT. That is what the 1050 is for. It pains me that you throw away perfectly good brass.

kevin c
I saw that brass too, SR . All yours, if you want my share. As noted above, the issue is swaging out the crimp. Not worth the hassle for me, since I'd have to buy a swager, and since you can get good mixed brass from the brassman very cheap, and sorted, specific headstamped brass for just a bit more. I just wish people would pick up their brass, to trash it if nothing else. It's a real pain finding your own brass out there, and it makes the range look like a dump. short_round
I'm a sucker for "free" brass. It's like fool's gold, just lying there asking to be picked up.
eric nielsen
The cops at my indoor range shoot NT - it's there like a brass carpet sometimes. And there it stays.
wide45
and I paid $12/thousand to have it delivered to my door...
kevin c
I'm a sucker for "free" brass. It's like fool's gold, just lying there asking to be picked up. Get a 1050, or a swager, and you're good to go, then.
