.40 S&W NT Brass

Has anyone had any experience with this brass. It's just now starting to show up on the range. I know the .45 ACP NT is not workable because it uses a small pistol primer size hole, but the .40 S&W NT appears dimensionally correct.

Is there anything else to worry about?

For the most part, yes. I get Federal NT brass now and then. The primer is crimped in, and the primer pocket needs to be swaged or reamed to get back to normal. I have a case deburring tool that does a nice job. Sometimes the primers will go in, although tight. The Federal NT does use a small primer pocket. The stuff is a pain in the A**.

I saw that brass too, SR :P . All yours, if you want my share.

As noted above, the issue is swaging out the crimp. Not worth the hassle for me, since I'd have to buy a swager, and since you can get good mixed brass from the brassman very cheap, and sorted, specific headstamped brass for just a bit more.

I just wish people would pick up their brass, to trash it if nothing else. It's a real pain finding your own brass out there, and it makes the range look like a dump.
