Locking down DAA mag pouches

Pro-Pain

Recommended Posts

Have some DAA mag pouches that won't stay tight.

In the heat of a reload, I wiggle the pouch a little a bit.

Eventually, The screw loosens up and the pouch flops all over the place.

Don't want to Loc-Tite it in case I want to switch them, adjust them, take them off...

Anyone find any solutions as to keeping the mag pouches where they are without over-torquing or permanently securing them?

Eventually going to practice enough to pull them straight out, like you're supposed to, but need a solution for now..

I finally gave up on mine, even though I still think they have the crispest/smoothest release of any mag pouch I've used.

Started out with the skate-tape in the ball joint method to keep them from rotating. Still moved. Added blue loc-tite and cranked the hell out of the bolt and they still moved little by little over time. Epoxied the ball-joint in place, then re loc-tited the bolt. They stopped moving... UNTIL the little plastic "pins" that extend from the rear of the pouch body and anchor the body to the "ball" sheared off, basically allowing the pouch to rotate freely regardless of how tight the bolt was.

Finally switched to versa-pouches.

Finally switched to versa-pouches.

The way I have my belt set up, I have 2 DAA's in the front, to cant them out and away from my "Organic Recoil Mitigation Material", or the "tactical tummy"

I have 4 Versa's on the side that don't need to be canted out.

I like the set up, but am now considering ditching them and going straight Versa..

Or shooting Limited and not needing them ;)

Used mine for 3 years only problem I lost a couple knobs. I just tighten them in place. I use the Matt Burkett method so that my wrist is straight and there is a direct line to the gun during the reload. Only the third is just behind the hip bone and upright. The AA adjust in more direction than the others.

I just got 4 new DAA mag pouches this week. It came with an additional part and instruction for this rubber washer that you install between the ball and socket. It's meant to keep the pouches to stay in the same position you set it in. I haven't tried it yet in real live fire but when I was doing draw and mag change drills it stays put...

Clicking on the link above to the other thread, I guess they listened to Grumpy's suggestion about the washer. DAA did mentioned on the instructions sheet that they were getting complains about this isssue.

Yep, same experience here. Easy fix. Just get a few of those thin rubber washers and place the screw through it, between the male/female cups. Now the pouches work perfectly.

IMC87 -- those new RaceMaster pouches look great. I would wait for them if I were you.
