WIFI password retrieval help!

Can't you default your device and enter a new password into it? Or are there other settings that would be wiped out that you don't know how to re-establish?

Don't know but I would rather just find the one I have.

Find your IP through a google search. Put it in your address bar. Log in as admin of your router - reset/change password.

I tired that just for fun, but couldn't log in without a PW?

I guess we need to be clear as to which password is to be recovered; there are two. One password is used to log into the router's self-contained web site so that you can adjust settings for it, and the other password for a wireless connection to be made (WEP, WPA, etc). You need the former to set the latter. Sounds like you just need to reset the router back to factory settings and start over.

Thanks - that's what I didn't get.

Im having the same problem. How do I go back to default? Hit the reset button?

Should be able to hold the reset button in while power cycling the device.

Thanks! Ill give that a shot.

(google search on what? how is google going to know what your router ip is?)

By the way, being a new apple person, I used to be able to open up a cmd window and type ipconfig /all to get the local address of my router. What do I do under osX?

doesn't matter which OS-i think the default for most routers is:

Most of them you just hold the reset button for 10-15 secs and the lights all go out or turn color. At that point you can release it and get back into your router with the default Ip, username and pass. Some have different address, so you may have to search on which your uses.

Try this:

My experience with cisco/linksys and netgear routers has been 192.168.1.1 as a default. DSL modems I've found seem to like 192.168.1.254
