Not legal for IDPA with the tungsten guide rod or the optical sight.

Put a steel or stock guide rod in it, and put some notch & post type sights on it and your G17 will go in Enhanced Service Pistol (ESP) - (provided the mag well fits in the box).

Your simple option here is to go find a USPSA match and shoot in the open division minor power factor. If you enjoy it problem solved. If you are intent on shooting IDPA, you're looking at removing most if not all of the goodies and going back to stock. Your magwell has brass involved? No go IDPA. Oversized mag release? Not extended, but bigger diameter? No go IDPA. Fastfire...in an electronic optical sight....No go IDPA. Tungsten is specifically prohibited as adding weight for a competitive advantage. Either lose the fast fire and go limited or add a compensated barrel and go open...simple and you get to keep the toys.
