BlueOvalBruin
I have a G20 limited gun (.40S&W) and would prefer to use the extended slide stop if possible. If I use the glock extended slide stop, when I press the mag release the mag slightly tilts away and the slide stop slips off the follower and jams into the follower's side. It happens with all my mags and has happened ever since I've had the gun. Has anyone tried using the extended slide stop in a G20 and gotten it to work? I don't think it happens when I use the G21 upper on it (wider follower I assume).

Is the slide lock maybe sprung open too much??
Nik Habicht
Try a different extended slide lock? Maybe that particular part is just out of spec? Or perhaps the tolerances are slightly off on frame, slide release, and mags/followers -- just enough to stack it all up against you....
BlueOvalBruin
I just got a new one so I'll try that and see how it works. Now if only I can find the original non-extended one that came with the gun I could do some measurements.
CJ1
Did you ever get this issue resolved? I am having the same issue with my G20. It also won't always lock back on an empty mag because of this issue. Sometimes it causes the mag to stick in the gun and not drop free, I have to pull the mag out because the slide stop lever is jammed into the side of the mag follower. I'd like to use my G20 with a .40 conversion barrel in Limited, but I'd like to get this slide stop problem fixed first.
BlueOvalBruin
I hope to have some more info today. I've been shooting production for the last few weeks so I havn't been playing around with it much.
dagger10k
You could always just use the standard slide release! That's what I use on my Glock 20 limited gun...

Now that's just crazy talk I really prefer using the extended ones. Between IDPA and local non-uspsa matches I use it all the time and I can hit the extended ones more consistently. The way my hands are, I can use a high grip and not have problems with the extended one slide stops.

It is the stock factory part causing the issues I described in my G20. BlueOvalBruin, do you only have the problem with the extended part?
BlueOvalBruin
BlueOvalBruin, do you only have the problem with the extended part? Good question, I haven't tried the non-extended one yet with the G20 slide/mags. I've used it with my G21 slide/mags without issue.
BlueOvalBruin
I have a lead on a solution to my problem. A glock gunsmith friend of mine said the new glock parts list had an extended slide stop for the “20, 21, 30, 37, 38, and 39”. The glock part number is SP01034 and the part is stamped with “3020-1”. I went to the store front for TheGlockStore.com and they just happened to have one. I’ll pop it in tonight when I get home and I’ll let you know how it goes. Duane Thomas
Why do you want to use an extended slide stop? What advantages do you feel it gives you over the low profile part?
BlueOvalBruin
I can hit it more consistently than the stocker. I tried the stock one but didn't like it as much so I switched. The way my hands are, I can have a high grip and not worry about it hitting the slide stop.
BlueOvalBruin
Well, I tried the new part in my G20 and still have the problem. Bummer. Must be something going on with the frame. Couldn't tell the difference between the G17 style extended slide release and the one stamped 3020-1 for the G20, G21. They looked almost identical. Think it maybe with the mag followers? Do you have someone you can swap a mag with?
BlueOvalBruin
It happens with every mag I have. The follower itself doesn't move side-to-side very much inside the mag. The mag itself twists in the magwell when the mag release is pressed, moving away from the slide release tab in the process.

If that is the case the only fix is a new frame. Have you thought about maybe emailing Glock customer service possibly?
BlueOvalBruin
Could be, I have the same problem with my dan wesson 1911 frame where the magwell in the frame is too wide.

Let me ask you this, with the magazine all the way engaged, can you twist it using the base pad? Reason I ask is I know mine(G17,G20,G35) are all tight!
