packapax
I just began my third season of USPSA production.I've been buying the Remington UMC 9mm 115 gr 250 round value pack and have gotten pretty comfortable with this ammo. A guy at the last match told me that he had taken this ammo to a bigger match at didn't it didn't make power factor. Is anyone familiar with this or had the same expirience? These catrigages side by side with Winchester White Box 115 gr seem slightly smaller. Is that any indication of a possible lighter load?

The only answer is to chrono them in your gun. Good luck, Chuck
Bob DuBois
Several of my IDPA friends prefer UMC 115gn for competition. UMC has a softer recoil than Winchester White box. Like Chuck said, you will need to test them through a Chronograph to be sure using your gun.
wileecoyote37
I was doing some chronograph testing yesterday. Trying to find calibration ammo for poppers. Blazer and Federal 115 gr FMJ RN did not make PF. The Federal ran 118 to 124 PF in 4 different pistols and the Blazer was 124. Don't trust any ot them until you can chrono them in your pistol. packapax
Thanks for the feedback. I guess it just never occured to me that store bought ammo could shoot so soft.

JasonS
G17 factory barrel I had 2 shots in a 10 string not make minor with that UMC ammo. Edited April 21, 2011 by JasonS
Red Ryder
I shot a sectional match with an XDM last year using UMC megapack ammo from Walmart. I made a 140 PF. As a matter of fact all eight rounds chronoed within 3-5 FPS of each other. This ment nothing to me since I was not a reloader then, but a shooting buddy pointed it out. packapax
I shoot an XDM as well. I'll be interested to see how similar my results are.
