benos
I'm in the market for a new compact Sony Digtal camera. The DSCT33 was over 8 years old, so I'm okay with the fact that it's finally dead. So I was looking at Sony reviews on image-resource.com. The visited links in the attached pic are the ones I was considering. Reading the "cons" of each camera's review... ehh... I'm baffled. Does anyone have any experience with any of those cameras? Or, perhaps the Cannon Powershot S90. Thanks in advance for any guideance. be
BigTinVA
I have always had very good results with Canon cameras so I am just a little biased towards them.
gamingoddess
I bought my brother the Canon S95 by request and he's said nothing but good things about it. I don't know one thing about cameras but the amount of manual controls has been expanded (and the HD movie capability sure helps too). Considering how popular the S90 and S95 has been, I'm sure that someone has some good input on them.
JD45
Canon is hard to beat in the point and shoots. If don't need a SLR, but can live with a size larger than a compact, by all means get one of their super-zoom point and shoots. A 10X or higher optical zoom is nice to have. Images won't be Pro quality at 10X, but an average person will capture decent pics of things missed at 3X.
benos
I have an awesome Nikon SLR - so for this camera I'm definitely only interested in a compact/ultra-slim model.
BritinUSA
If you are familiar with Nikon then how about one of these: Does 1080p video as well S9100 There's also the 8100 which is a bit cheaper Edited April 21, 2011 by BritinUSA
benos
Interesting timing Paul... I was just researching those two cameras. At this point I think I need to head down to Fry's for some hands on...
Classic_jon
I have nothing but good things to say about my Cannon 12mp pocket camera. I also have a Sony 707 and other than the 200mm zoom on the Sony I like the Cannon better. I recently saw a review of the Cannon PowerShot 500HS and pretty much everyone that has reviewed it said it is a great 12mp/1080hd camera. http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/canon/powershot-elph-500-hs/steves-conclusion-132.html http://www.g4tv.com/videos/52399/canon-powershot-500-hs-digital-camera-review/ To me the ability to take good low light photos, or not have the flash white out everything, is the mark of a good camera and the Cannon 500 HS apparently does that. Oddly enough Costco and Sams club both have a good selection and price on cameras so you may want to take a look there as well.
benos
After a hands on at Fry's with a few of my top picks from surfing, I ordered the Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS. I don't think I would been happy with the touch only displays on the Nikon. be
