EMC(SS)
I have a difficult time reaching the mag release on a 1911 (I use the RH release on my XDM). I am planning on purchasing a 1911 and was wondering if an ambi mag release can be fitted or if the release can be swapped from one side to the other. Thanks for any advice! Corey
Not sure on the ambi part, but I too had a hard time hitting the button without shifting my grip a bunch. 2 things helped: I bought a set of VZ grips (mainly bc i wanted a more aggressive texture) and chose the option with a recess for your thumb when reaching for the button. I also swapped the regular mag release for a drilled and tapped release, that way i could add an oversized button. I chose the STI button as it is a little bigger than standards, but also comes backwards towards the rear of the gun. the combo of new button and recessed grip lets me hit the button MUCH MUCH easier. Here is a picture of my mag button/grips:
Avezorak
http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000F0D-1300908949 Jimmy Mitchells RH mag release button is awesome. I got to meet Jimmy over the weekend and try several on both single stacks and 2011's. It is a very easy to reach, very smooth release. Its easy to fit. I think you would like it. Its mush easier to press than an XDM.
