ICORE Classic revolver rules

Recommended Posts

Getting some work done on a 586. The only restrictions I see for Classic revolvers, other than the restrictions for a limited gun that would move it to open, is 6 shot only, and must use speedloaders. I'm checking to see that removing the hammer spur is legal. Also, this model has the hammer mounted firing pin. Does that enter into the decision to have the hammer bobbed? This will be getting the action work to use well seated Federal primers. Anyone have any other comments? I already have a 686SSR that's had the same work, but the hammer was left intact. thanks, Mark

You can remove the hammer spur in Classic. It is difficult to see in my Avatar, but the 6" Model 66 in the photo is my Classic revolver without a hammer spur.

In my opinion, it is no more difficult to remove the spur on an old style hammer compared to a new style hammer.

You can aggressively remove the hammer spur just like Carmonizing it. Make sure you test your ammo. I intend to use American Eagle 159 grain LRN for this weekend's SW Sectional. My reloads were working fine but I did have to tigten the rebound spring 1/2 a turn to insure the factory ammo would work reliably.

Increasing the spring tension did not increase the trigger pull, lightening the trigger definately did the job I wanted.
