Pat Miles
Dawson Precision has a how to video. Correct me if I am wrong but the Dawson video gives no info on making the new style SVI mags fit an STI grip unless there is a second video out. markcic
It is easier to tune the mag catch in the gun that it is the mags. The new SV mags have a smaller mag catch hole. You can either enlarge the bottom edge of the hole on the mag body or file off the bottom edge of the match catch to fit the hole in the mag body. ogiebb
if i ever run out on old style SV mags my next step is to just change the entire grip to the new sv grip , my buddy did this to avoid buying old style mags, on a non tuned new style sv 170 tube he get 30rounds with bolen parts reliably... ChiefG
I just bought 5 new stamped SV mags, 4 works with my STI frame/gun. The 5th one I had to enlarged the top edge of the hole on the mag body to match the mag catch hole. Squeezed the mag in a vise, used hard plastic mallet to match the dimension of the other 4. Took quite some time but was able to get it to work. There was a thread about this, I'll see if I can find it.... ETA..this is where I got the idea on how to do it.
