Clinton County Ohio 3Gun

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever shot at the Clinton County Farmers and Sportsmen Association range near Williamington Ohio? They have several matches scheduled for this year and apparently just switched to IMG rules. I emailed questions to the match director and he responded promptly. Just curios because I'm planning on shooting the April 24 th match.

Just looked up their website. This would be a great place to try for me, only about 1/2 hr. away. Too bad the 24th is Easter. Skipping to go shoot would go over like a fart in church. I'm assuming we don't have to be members to shoot the matches, correct? Being an IDPA club, would my open gear be frowned upon?

Your open gear is good to go from what I understand. They are using IMG rules. I better be right because I'm shooting open too!!! Check out their calendar, they have several matches this year. I hope it's a fun match because of the amount shoots and it's only 2 1/2 hours away from my place. Shooting 3gun in Ohio is challenging because of the lack in places to do it.

It's only about an hour drive for me, so it is a no-brainer, I'm there.

They have a nice facility with a lot of potential. It could grow into a

very nice match. They use a lot of IDPA scoring, which I don't really like,

I prefer IMG scoring. The MD is a super-nice guy, and the match is very casual.

The July match was brutally hot, and the whole squad had to wait in the burning

sun through one entire stage. Had I known, I would've brought my EZ-up for us to

sit under. Enough talk, video tells the story better:

I looked at the calendar and could not find and matches for 3 gun. Will there be any in August or September 2011?

August 28th and September 25th. The multi-gun matches are usually the 4th Sunday of the month. B)

Bad for me. I have a USPSA match at Crooked Creek those weekends.

What are the typical ammo requirements for the match?

Thanks

This Sunday it's 40 rifle, 60 pistol, and 35 shotgun.

I think this month will be an interesting match.

Thanks for the update! Wasn't sure about the match as I didn't see anything mentioned on the website.

Are the stages posted somewhere?

Start time?

Stages aren't posted anywhere, sometimes they'll get emailed but nothing so far.

Start time is 9:30, set-up usually begins about an hour before.

I am planning on driving up from Lexington. It looks like the weather will be great.

I think I talked to you on the rifle stage. Hope you thought the trip was worth it. I think that was their best match this year. I'm the guy going to BGSL this Sunday. I need to re-zero my rifle, apparantly all my shots were going a little right on that first stage. My shotgun decided to mis-feed and then flip the shell backwards on another stage and I spent a good ten seconds clearing that, that was a first. Otherwise, I had a pretty good match! Big turn-out this time. I think trying to put the targets on a single stick wasn't such a good idea, maybe if the wind hadn't been so strong.

Yes I was and the trip was well worth the 2.5 hour drive. I plan on attending again. I would like to thank all the folks that put on such a fun match. A special thanks to Chris, Larry, and Jeff. Yesterday I had a few mistakes on my part. I will chaulk those up to inexperience. I am learning all the time. I ageee with the wind and the targets. The zombies were a lot of fun. I especially liked the two stages at the 50yard bay. Well, come to think about it, I liked all the stages. With a mix of upclose hoser stages and 200 yard rifle shooting, what's not to like.

Good luck at BGSL this Sunday. I believe it will be worth your drive down. There are some very good shooters that show up from time to time. And there is usually a good mix of stages. Take care.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the match! Chris and I had a bunch of fun putting together the stages. I couldn't believe how many folks turned out for the match. I just wish it hadn't taken so long to get through it all. I think we learned a bunch for the next one though.

I'd like to send a shout-out to my brother and thank him for providing the zombie targets, and another to my 16 year old niece who came out and shot the match (well, most of it). It was her first time shooting a match, and only her second time shooting a shotgun and center fire rifle and pistol.

-Larry
