Warren/Sevigny Competition sights: Black or FO front?

I've been reading ad nauseum about a set of sites for my G34. The Tru-Glo's that are on it now are abysmal.

I tried a friend's Straight-8's and liked the thin post. Through reading, I've seen that lots are having good success with the Sevigny stuff, and it retains that thin front post. So I have a couple of questions before 'pulling the tigger'.

I've not shot a FO front sight before. Does it distract the shooter easily? Does it sacrifice some precision?

I hear the Sevigny's can often shoot high (I don't really want a 6 o'clock hold). Is the .245 height the most appropriate option?

Thanks for any thoughts! I'm sick of reading about sights, I just want to get a set and get movin'...

It all depends on the shooter. Some find it distracting, some do not. I have Green, Red, and Orange fibers for mine and will trade them out whenever I think I need a different view. The nice thing about a fiber front is that all you need to do is grab a black bristle out of broom and you have a solid black front sight.

As to accuracy I have an adjustable rear sight so I can dial it in to shoot point of aim.

It shows what I do with my Sevigny Fiber Optics front sights... I love my sevigny set... I like the red fiber optic, and I paint the bottom of the post green for more contrast and I feel this combo really helps me with quick shots, and it gives me a great sight picture for long, tight shots... Before the paint job, I tended to nestle the FO sight low in the channel, thus hitting low when I was trying to shoot quickly...

I got mine from CPWSA (look in the vendor area)

I use the .215 on my 34 and my 24. I use the dawson front F/O w/ the sevigny competion rears (the dawson is a little lower) on my 17 and 22. POA / POI is dead on at 15 yards...

Several things determine your POI. Ammo velocity, sight radius, even your own body mechanics... ie. what works for me may not be perfect for you... Best advice is a little trial and error...

Get fiber optic. If you dont like it...you can take it out and replace it with a bristle from a broom (free). Then your right back to black on black :D

Stick with me pistolero...you will learn a things or two.

I shot a black front for abot 3 years before trying a fiber optic front. I didn't like the fiber front as much and my accuracy suffered slightly on long shots and tight no shoots, but that could be overcome with practice. I found that I just preferred the clean sight picture of all black, but my eyes are having problems focusing on it not so I'm trying the fiber again.

I have a 34 with a set of f.o. sevigny sights. I started with the .215 front, and it shot 4 to 5 inches high at 25 yds. I switched to the .245, and now it shoots to the top of the front sight blade at 25 yds. As far as f.o. or serrated, I switched my f.o. front to a serrated after reading.g the thread referenced earlier. I haven't shot a match with it yet, only dry fire and some range work, but I think I'm going to like it better. My advice would be to try both if you can, different strokes and all.

I use the .245 post with FO. Mine also shoots just to the top of the post. Really like the combo. I would get the FO sight. I like it shooting at indoor ranges. For outdoor matches, some lampblack over the dot makes for a nice regular black front sight. I haven't tried black broom bristles (say that 5 times fast), but I might after reading the comments above.
