john52
Shooting sa 1911, had been using win 231 45 acp. Looking for a load for lighter recoi. I was thinking of going with MP 9 orSa XD 9 . I was thinking about going with 200 LSWC titegroup or clay. The other option was getting a M&P 9 or a Xd 9.I really like the sa 19911 and thats what I want to stay with. twodownzero
It's really hard to understand what you're asking, but there are tons of loads here for both .45 and 9mm. Mine is 3.6 Clays and a 230 grain moly. 230s are softer than 200s for me.
john52
Looking for lighter recoil load, to lighten up recoil on the 1911 when shooting. I going to try the clay. Just want to be able to handle the gun a little better.
Hi-Power Jack
John, what are you doing with the .45? IPSC, IDPA, plinking, hunting? Generally heavier bullets will be "lighter" to shoot - so I'd go with a 230 gr (or even heavier) and some of the new powders. If you don't have to make major pf, you can get them going 700 fps and that will be very mild. Might be able to respring your gun to cut down on the recoil also. toddje
Are you asking about buying another gun? (MP and/or XD in 9mm)? It sounds like what you are looking for is a new gun - specifically a 1911 pattern gun in 9mm. Lots of companies make them these days, and the recoil is VERY mild. That would also give you the single action trigger pull you like. As far as powders, most folks seeking a "light" recoil go the heavy bullet + fast powder route(examples: 147gr 9mm with Clays Powder, or 230gr .45 bullets with Bullseye). chirpy
If you are just plinking, try to find some .45 lead SWC's in the 152 gr. range. Start with about 3.5 gr. 231 (load a few). Shoot them to see if they cycle the action. Work up by .2 gr. until your gun cycles 100%. That load should be very pleasant to shoot. They are only good for plinking and shooting steel. For USPSA or IDPA you will need a major load. FWIW Richard
racerba
It might help to tell us what bullet and load you are using. Telling what you might go to doesn't really help if we don't know where you are at and where you need to go. you might be fine with what you have, just tweaking it a little bit. john52
I want to startng IDPA, I would like to stay w/ the 1911 in 45acp. I am loading win. 231 5.1 to 5.4 w/Miss LSWC.I think w/ the rt load I'll be ok. I think I'm justifying getting a new pistol. I'm going to change the powder to clays ,and maybe going to a 200 LSWC Edited April 7, 2011 by john52
