The Heinie 1911 barrel?

I'm a newbie here but not to guns. However I have a Springfield Armory 1911-A .45. ACP. The pistol was made on August 1994. The barrel is stamped Heinie 45ACP. It's a stainless steel barrel with a stainless steal guide rod and front bushing. It's a very accurate customize pistol. R.Heinie puts his name to the right of the pistols serial number and the number of pistols he built by the left safety. This pistol has none of those markings. He makes sights but I can't find any information on his barrels. Can anyone help with that? Thanks, Gary.

Heinie sells parts as well as doing custom work on 1911's. I have bought several Heinie barrels from him. Last I heard was he had drop barrels from his parts lists.

BTW If it ain't marked "R. Heinie" it ain't his work.

Yes I agree with that. Who ever made this pistol did a fine job on it. Heinie seems very elusive when you try to find out information on him. I know originally he was a master gunsmith and he had great standards for perfection. It seems he must have dropped them a long time ago. Do you remember what the price was on those barrels back then? Thanks for your reply, Gary.

Welcome to the forums. Missed that on the first post.

As a dealer I got mine a dealer cost. Which I believe was $85-90 a few years ago.

I see you are new here. Bashing or talking bad about others is frowned upon here.

I do not believe that Heinies standards have drop at all. The cosmetic details are pretty much flawless. The actions all lock up very tight and the guns are very accurate. YMMV but I know Dick personally and have handled many of his guns.

Your welcome.

Thanks for the welcome! Just to clarify my post, You misunderstood what I was trying to say. The subject is about the Heinie barrel. I was trying to say, "I think he quit making the barrels a long time ago." MOP of Heinie is that he was the standard by which all precision pistols were judged by. Even today his pistols are a grail to own. I have talked to Reps at the Heinie company and the ones I spoke to never new he made barrels at one time. I would be the first to take up for Heinie too.
