calvary45
I sent my PT 1911 taurus of to the gunsmith to have slide cut for k-1 tripp reaserch rear adjustable sight. Now he is saying that he cant get that cut on the slide for some reason, he offered a different rear sight , dont know what it is yet or if it is even a bomar style. Has anybody ever had this problem with the tripp rear sight cut. Did not get all the details as to why yet just wondering if anybody else had that problem. Seth
It fits a std bomar cut nicely. I've installed 6 of them into various guns with preexisting bomars. My guess is that its pre cut for Novak which removes more material than the bomar (in essence).
JerryShoots
The PT1911's use the minor Novak cut. The bomar types are a larger overall removal of material but the Novak dovetail is larger. If your PT1911 is combat sight cut it may be some kind of interferance with the firing pin safety on the right side of the slide. Give me some more info and I can give you specifics on why it's go or no go. I need the current cut of your slide. And the series that the PT you have is. I think they're series 80 or 90 but some of the older ones could be 70 I don't for sure know. Also what type of extractor does it use internal or external? I will borrow a friends Taurus this week and make some measurements. Hope to help

JerryShoots
Yup the current cut is too big and in the wrong place to make a change to Bomar type sights. Try going with a Novak cut adjustable. STI makes one and Kensight makes a fully adjustable one that rocks. If you allready bought the bomar post it in the classifieds and it should sell quick so you can recoup most of your investment. calvary45
That sucks i really like the tripp research rear sight, I got a LPA low profile adjustable sight for it. I think ill keep the tripp sight for a future build (hopefully). Thank you for all your help.
JerryShoots
Anytime sorry it didn't work out better. If you get into the game for long enough you end up building a zillion guns and using all kinds of parts. I'm sure you'll find a job for that sight eventually!
