ParaGunner
I'm not sure grams makes followers for para but the make springs. I've tried a grams STI follower in a para mag and the follower kept rolling over, didn't work that well and I didn't get any extra rounds in it. I use ISMI springs with Para followers . "I use ISMI springs with Para followers ." - I'm a bit confused. Do you use ISMI springs w/ Para followers in your STI or do you use ISMI springs for a Para? If you use ISMI springs in your Para which ones? ...& I need other followers because when I max load them w/ +3 basepads I have problems & I need to be able to get 17+1 or I can't use the P-14 for limited. I don't think that's all that clear, but... -jb

ParaGunner
Are you using DP mag extentions? You should be able to get 18 rounds of 45acp with Dawson extentions, you might have to radius the follower a little to get 18 rounds or get a Arredondo para follower. The Arredondo para follower seem to fit in the basepad to give you Max capacity without any fitting.
stinsonbeach
Are you using DP mag extentions? *** yes You should be able to get 18 rounds of 45acp with Dawson extentions, you might have to radius the follower a little to get 18 rounds *** nope - 17 & I have to jam 'em ... & that is why I think I had trouble in the match. When I'm at the range I put 3-8 rds only in the mags & the gun runs flawlessly. or get a Arredondo para follower. The Arredondo para follower seem to fit in the basepad to give you Max capacity without any fitting. *** thank you, thank you - that is exactly what I need to know! I figure I'll get ISMI springs & now I know Arredondo followers will work. Thank you again & I'll let you know how it all shakes out. -jb
ParaGunner
Sounds like the follower need radiused or get some arredondo para followers. The DP basepads come with instructions to radius the follower, it might be on their website to.

wide45
The arredondo followers are soft, and will deform if the mags are kept loaded. Para factory followers are the way to go.

I'll take you word on that. I'm going to "radius" all my followers, & clean the crap outta' my mags. Hopefully that'll cure the problem. Question: I still think I should change out the springs for ISMI, yes? Thanks, -jb
wide45
I use ISMI springs when the old style Para springs croak. What problem are you having? Edited March 27, 2011 by wide45
stinsonbeach
I use ISMI springs, but they are not the only choice. What problem are you having? Whenever I replace any springs - if new doesn't come w/ whatever it is I bought - I always use ISMI springs. When I load Para 2xStack .45 w/ Dawson pads to the max (17) - I have trouble w/ them. I think if I really clean them & radius the followers the problem w/ solve itself. I've done that w/ 3 out of 6 so far & they have no problems that I can find - w/ my thumb that is! ...they were really, really dirty. -jb Edited March 27, 2011 by stinsonbeach

Para mags in .45 will not run if not kept clean. The rounds roll up the sides, and against each other. Any grit in the mags or ammo will stop them up. jrguar
If I remember correctly, Beven did make springs and followers for the P-14, another great solution is the ISMI spring with the dawson follower (if dave is still making them). In either case, check with Beven at Grams Engineering or check out Dave Dawsons web site. Both good guys.. both support the sport . Good Luck

I can't remember why, but when I contacted Grams there was a reason I didn't buy them there...sorry, wiffle-ball-brain here!...but I did get some 140 ISMI's from Chris at "Chris' Winning Shooting Accessories" I buy lots of stuff from Dawson & never had a single issue. 1fng
+1 on checking with Beven. His website http://gramsengineering.com/, has a description of his springs that states they are made to work with his followers only. He, or one of his staff can point you in the right direction.
