leros
Hello from Orange County California also know as "The Peoples Republic of Mexifornia". I found this forum while reading in another good forum (1911forum.com), I have been reading on here for a few days and there is a ton of great info on here! Now I need to practice some more and research what these match shoots are all about. I have been a shotgunner for a long time, I do all the clay games (trap, skeet, five stand, and sporting) and have been an upland game hunter forever it seems. I have always had some handguns but never really got into shooting them on a regular basis. I'm going to blame it on a bad shooting Springfield 1911 that I bought around 1982-83. I bought it new for about $160 and it is probably the worst shooting gun I have ever shot. I recently came across a great deal on a tricked out Les Baer and now I know how a "good" 1911 is supposed to shoot! I am pretty excited about getting good with this gun and in the short time shooting it things are going quite well already. I think I want to try some match shooting but I know absolutely nothing about any of it so I will continue my research on what it is all about and how it works. redneck1861
I am new to competition shooting myself, and all I can say is I wish I would have started earlier. It is much more fun than just going to the range. And in this sport, people will give you all the advice in the world to help you out. I would reccomend finding a local gun club, and starting from there
yoshidaex
Raahaugee's in Norco has a USPSA/IPSC match every Saturday. Prado Olympic Shooting Park has matches on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. Both programs have excellent beginner programs. nrg.jvdynamics.com/nrg/ prg-ipsc.com/ Drop them an email. leros
I just got back from the "Big Sandy Shoot" machine gun shoot in Arizona and it was unbelievable. It's hard to imagine all those guns are privately owned, I live in the wrong state Anyway thanks for the info. I will check out Raahauges next weekend to watch and see what it is all about. They do allow spectators I would think? SteveO
yoshidaex
Bring your gear. You'll have more fun by doing instead of watching. Both programs have Safariland loaner holster and mag pouch programs so there's no excuse Edited March 28, 2011 by yoshidaex
