carlosa
I had my first limited gun built for me, I'm loving the the new toy but the ambi safety is hurting my hands pretty bad (it looks like an SVI extra wide and the left side edge digs into my trigger finger's knuckle pretty brutally). I really love the ambi thumb safety on my Springfield armory trp operator, and i would like the same safety installed but i do not know which one they use (I'm guessing it's their own design) or where to purchase one. any one here know where i can get one?? cheers, Los. lumpygravy
If you're a righty, I'm having a hard time visualizing "the left side edge digs into my trigger finger's knuckle...". If you're a righty isn't your trigger finger knuckle on the other side? I'm sure I'm missing something Have you checked with SA customer service to see if they'll sell just the part? or tell you who supplies it if they don't manufacture it in house? ETA: You appear to be a righty in your picture... Edited March 24, 2011 by lumpygravy
carlosa
lol yeah your right it is the right side lever that is digging in to my trigger finger knuckle (I'm right handed) i did e-mail Springfield but i never got a response. maybe i need to call them. thanks for the idea. cheers, Los. carlosa
time to bust out the Dremel ... i've contemplated it.. but my smith's going to change it out.. i like to tell him exactly the one i want dough
geeze
Why don't you just have the right side reduced in size a bit so it doesn't touch your trigger finger knuckle? Probably be cheaper than having a new safety fitted anyway. I had the same problem when I put a Ed Brown wide on a gun of mine and just ground it down until it didn't get in the way then finished it to match the other side. lumpygravy
I'm with Geeze. Have your 'smith trim the right side paddle so that it doesn't rub. Probably cheaper than fitting up a whole new safety. Edited March 24, 2011 by lumpygravy

I have reengaged the safety with my support hand when establishing my grip after the draw in more than one occasion. i've thought about trimming the hole thing down, but my smith will change it out for me at no extra cost, I'm guessing he want to keep the part and use it on another build if he needs too. anyway i really like the SA.. they just don't seem to be that easy to get Edited March 24, 2011 by carlosa

Really? that's cool the pictures from the willson site don't really show the side of the safeties that much so it's a bit hard for me to tell. p.s I'm not driving I'm seating at my work desk

lumpygravy
Actually, I think it's this one I think the one on the gun is the extended, not the high ride - at least looking at the pictures on the SA site and the Brownells site.
