usmc1974
I got this load off the Aliant data site 115 JHP (MG)my bullet 8.5 Blue dot FSP primer 1.125 OAL Vel 1258 out of their 4" barrel. I weighted all 20 rounds on my Hornady GS350 set crimp at 382 with win and speer nickel brass. It ran out over my chrony at 1353 AV Out of my Glock 17 factory barrel. No presure signs or flat primers. shot at round into 1 small hole. Edited March 23, 2011 by usmc1974
Foxbat
What is the question? If why the difference - there are many reasons: powder batch, barrel length, its diameter and profile, among other things.
usmc1974
Seems a long way from their published vel most the time their loads don't run as high as they say.
Hi-Power Jack
Each barrel is different - each brand of bullet can cause different velocities. Difficult to measure 8.5 gr - you might be throwing 8.6 or even 8.7. Your chrono can be measuring a little high that day (sunlight, etc). Add all four differences together, and voila, you have a 95 fps difference. The load sounds a little hot - if you don't need all that pf, I'd back off on the powder a bit, and enjoy shooting more:)

I don't like to have to shoot a popper twice . I thought maybe cut back to 8 grains. and chrony that. 8.5 gives my a PF 155.Thanks B
Foxbat
Well, if you are shooting something like USPSA Production, then strongly consider switching to 147 grain bullets, you will be amazed at how much less they kick, this is what most people who reload use in that division. If why the difference - there are many reasons: powder batch, barrel length, its diameter and profile, among other things. I have been thinking about this. I guess the Q is even though there are no presure signs on the federal primer or the case, is this load to hard on my glock 17 for a full time load..
