98006
I've been getting quite a few duds with the Small pistol Tula primers. Got these from PV. have you had any problems with them also?
Hi-Power Jack
I've been getting quite a few duds with the Small pistol Tula primers. Got these from PV. have you had any problems with them also? I ordered 20,000 of them - just tried 75 of them, and they all went bang the first time in my STI TruBor:) Hope that continues - probably won't work in my Browning P-35 Hi-Power - but might be okay for practice. No problems, I have shot close to 5k of them and ordered more. I've shot about 2k of them working great. Plan to order more. I did have a few early on that failed to seat properly. Have you tried a second chance to see if the rounds fire? If the primer isn't seated the first fail to fire may just seat it completely and make it look like a dud. 98006
These are definately duds. I pulled the bullets and tried them again and no joy. What is the lot # on your primers? Are they silver color? I bought these because I was told they are made by wolf. The last wolf I used were brass colored and I had no problems with them. Could be the lubrication you're spraying on your cartridge cases during the reloading process? Or, your hammer isn't hitting the primer hard enough? GuyC
I had failures with my glock, 2 light strikes per 50.
sirveyr
The only time I had any FTF was when using them in my striker fired pistols. They all ssem to light in my hammer fired guns and PCC. I still have 5K of them and will load them up for practice ammo. It is good to include some tap-rack-bang drills in all of your training sessions. waxman
I bought 10 k of them from PV, because of the special. Hope there is no problem. I have only shot about 50, and all worked. I bought these for practice only anyway. Winchester, and CCI are the only ones I trust for matches. I did notice that they must have a little larger diameter then domestic primers. Once fired cases, and especially S&B cases required alot more force on my 550.
bikerburgess
I have loaded about 400 of them now and they are hard. my lightened DA pistols have a little issue with them but my SA pistols have no problem. Mike

Classic_jon
Please correct me if I am wrong but, from my understanding Wolf and Tula are the same manufacturing facility. Some people have had decent luck with Wolf/Tula but I know several that have not.
Hi-Power Jack
Just fired another 175 Tula SPMagnum primers in my STI TruBor - that's a total now of about 250, and they all went off the first time. Using range brass, 124 gr MG JHP's, and 7.0 grains WAC at 1.165". (not sure any of that means anything in this context). Since I had trouble with the Wolf primers in my Browning Hi=Power, I assume I'd have trouble with the Tulas also in that gun, but they work well in my TruBor.
