Neomet
My dad used to tell the story about when his unit had been in the front attacking Monte Cassino during WW II. They weere being relieved by a group of Gurkhas who moved in during the night. They crept up in the dark without making a sound with those knifes out. Th Gurkhas held onto a position close to the monastery for a long time taking heavy casualties during the day and then going up the mountain at night for payback, often at the hands of those knives. Dad described them as some of the toughest troops he ever saw and dad was not easily impressed. Edited February 2, 2011 by Neomet
