Gun Phan
I'm new to the board and trying to get help with with loading 38 Short Colt. I have a Dillon 550 with 9mm and 38 Special dies. I heard you have to modify some of the dies in order to load this unique round. I would use this round in ICORE competition for faster reloads. I have a 627 Miculeck (Vcomp) S&W revolver. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bill Sahlberg
No modifications necessary, I load on a Dillo 650. I use a .38/.357 sizing and powder die and only use a 9mm taper crimp die. My ammo is 130 gr Montana Gold bullets with 4.6 gr Universal Clays, Federal 100 primer at 1.100" oal and a TIGHT crimp. (yes this marks th bullet jacket) This is 1100 fps and is a super clean burn leaving ZERO unspent powder. I can shoot 12 stages without cleaning my gun even once. Gun Phan
Thanks for the help guys. Bill, Question about the 130 grains Montana bullets. Is it 38 super bullets?
hdgun
The load I was using, 147gr MG (.357) with 4.5 Unique with fsp primers Starline brass. Work your load up slow. Using diff powder /bullet combos can creat preasure problems.I stopped loading them, didn't find them too be as accurate as I would like. I use 38 Long Colt now.Find it to be much better. Shorter than 38 special, longer than short colt.
