HDMI connection to my TV

So I am hooked up to the tv with my the HDMI cable and am getting a view of my screensaver but I don't get anything that is going on the laptop screen.

Help???

Screen saver or desktop background? Have you played with Display properties? Tried to configure a second screen?

Yes desktop background my bad.....but the second screen thing sounds like the solution. I'll try it when i get home. thanks

If you successfully set up a dual monitor system, one of the will look lie your regular desktop -- icons, windows/start thingy in the bottom left, status icons in the bottowm right, etc. -- the other screen will just display the background. Any application you want to view on the new screen: Open it, click the center box between the - sign and the x until it does not fill the screen, then grab the top tool bar and drag it in the direction of the second screen. Now, maximize it to fill the screen. (Hint -- in Display controls, you're supposed to tell the computer whether the new screen is to the left or right of the old one.)
