Jeff686
I'm starting my son into IPSC using an airsoft 1911. The grip panels are HUGE! I need to replace them with some thin ones. Luckily, they are standard 1911 panels. I can find lots of thin ones online, but I don't want to pay $50 for airsoft grips. Anyone know a good source? Plastic is fine! Cheaper the better. Maybe I can hunt around for some old wooden used panels from somewhere, then thin them out. That seems like a lot of work.
Dillon b
brownells has them from 15.00 and midway has some on clearance right now for 8.50. Its hard to beat that as long as you can add a few dollars to the order so they wont hit you with a extra s&h charge
MarkCO
You can try these: http://www.ergogrips.net/item-detail.cfm?ID=4500&storeid=1ℑ=ergoxt.gif&CFID=3740413&CFTOKEN=36375250 They are pretty thin, you don't need new hardware, and they can be easily cut down more as well. Mark K
If you want thin, for small hands, what about grip tape? Stair tread tape is about $3 at Home Depot. Mark

Mark Thanks for all the great ideas guys. I like this one the best. I wonder if the tape is strong enough, given the voids it would have to bridge. Also, I have a saw, drill, and files. I could find some thin backer material (aluminum or carbon fiber) from the hobby shop, and make a thin pair myself. Add a little grip tape to boot.
