EricW
Just like a bad penny, it keeps coming back. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were all equal. If only we did (insert moronic notion of 'equality' here), it would always be sunny and we could dance through the daffodils..." How damned many times do we have to go through this exercise? Socialism was flawed at its inception. Disastrous in each and every implementation. And hasn't gotten any better with age. Have we learned anything yet? Apparently not. vluc
A generation that has not learned history is doomed to repeat it....

The scary thing is that a very large US political party has STRONG socialistic leanings
3quartertime
No intention to highjack your thread,,,but My (liberal) girlfriend and I were recently talking about politics. It's funny how at the national level the differences in parties seems rather small and tedious. At the local level (person to person) they seem and can get waaaaaaaay out of hand. Most that argue politics can't backup their info and the others just want to rant. In my more mature ( yuck!!!) years I've found that keeping my political views, much like my religious views, personal is the best polocy... SiG Lady
There've been a number of times I've been tempted to do a religion or politics rant but figured I'd get kicked off the planet and that would be the end of it. Even the Depths of Hell test didn't like me, remember...? (The Ninth Circle of Hell, my ass.) I've just seen a lot of empty, repetitive ranting on other forums when they let themselves leap into the fray on politics. There's no end to it, no resolution. It all turns into a rudeness contest. Right. So, yes, we're not equal--it's really obvious every day in every way. I'm wondering if it's not so much that the systems are flawed but that the leaders are inevitably corrupt. Then, there's that matter of individualism... Nope, we're not equal.
EricW
This rant wasn't meant to be a political commentary, rather a hatred of a societal value system.
Sam
The thing I mistrust about both politics and religion is that the individual is totally forgotton. To be accepted, we must hold a view similar to some other group of individuals. That way we can all be labeled and everyone knows who they should hate and who they should like. This is what I know for sure: I am a soverign individual, both in my mind and in my soul. No one is accountable for what I do or what I believe, except me. Personally, I kinda like Pascal's wager. "If there is no God, nothing matters. If there is a God, everything matters." Interesting food for thought on a dark and stormy night. Enjoy, my friends! dajarrel
Eric,W, I agree with you. IMHO, with very few exceptions, if you want to eat, work. Don't ask or expect me to provide it. FWIW dj
