650XL wrenches

Once the machine is set up and running you will not need the wrenches unless you do a caliber change or want to change something. My wrenches dissapeared into my tool box long ago and have been replaced with a set of Bondhaus ball end wrenches which reside in the same tool box. The specific holder is just a play pretty as far as I am concerned. For die adjustments I use a 10" all metric, all sixteenths, all Whitworth left handed adjustable spanner wrench (Crescent wrench) which also resides in my tool box.

I have a big box of left over allen wrenches, was machinist for 10 years,, mostly SAE, it is good to know that you only need them for setup.

Just set mine up this weekend. They come with a set of allen wrenches. The holder is a plastic zip lock bag.

darn, I should have ordered a holder.

For an extra fee, they'll put it in the tactical (freezer bag) holder!

another tip to pass along is that not all of the lock rings need to reside on top of the toolhead. the space is kinda limited as far as getting a 10 inch crescent in there. so you can run one lockring on top, then the next one on bottom, then the next one on top....and so on.

I haven't tried it myself but I have read here on this forum how a deep well socket also works as far as cinching down the lock rings tight.

since I got rid of my 550 and I am in the process of converting everything to the 650, I am thinking I might just forego lockrings entirely and drill and tap for set screws and lead birdshot to hold the dies in place. the only trickey part will be for the station 1 and 2 (and possibly 5) dies. it will be trial and error sliding the toolhead in and out til I get the those dies at the correct height.

The socket does work and the 1" bench wrench is better than other options but, things still get in the way, like the tool head locator pins. Once you get the die bodies set and locked you shouldn't have to fool with them much, if any.

Moving over from an SDB I found the die set up just a little more tedious and time consuming. Not that difficult, just have to fiddle with them to get just what you want. Once set up it really runs nice.
