Blank Zero
Hello all, I am very interested in a 2011 style 40 cal for limited class competition. However, as a Californian, I can't buy STI And get a quot from SVI and come out to be like $4k+ and 13 months of waiting. Is there any solution for a Californian to own a 2011? 818-DVC
Buy used in CA Go to matches, put the word out and you will find them. try a New barsto BS40. It's a well built gun on a 2011 frame for CA. I'm sure just putting the word out will attract a few sellers here. I paid $2400 for a CA SV limited gun that was like new! Cleanest & tightest gun I ever owned. There's a lot of them with less mileage Out there and people are broke these days. Holidays are here. This is the time I save for all year! Gifts! to myself.. It is gun buying season!
1fng
Your local FFL can order a BarSto. I'm not sure what the wait is right now, but it is easy. SV, and buying used are your only other options, as far as I know. I went with the BarSto, and have been happy. As long as you don't want to shoot IDPA, you'll be fine. The bull barrel on the BS40 makes the pistol illegal for IDPA.
feederic
I have a BarSto built handgun, it shoots a real tight group. Call Irv and he can build it pretty much anyway you want it in the end.
calishootr
buy used already in the state is a good option, its sort of how i got my limited gun, tho for me, it was a 'bidding war' for a frame and mags, which i won, and had built up to my specs like was said, people out here are broke, and shooting isnt on the top of their list at the moment, diapers and formula may be atthe top ofthe list and the money runs out before primers and bullets....good luck in your hunt in our silly state... feederic
I've seen bidding wars exceed 1K just for a bare frame in CA, it can get ugly! Good luck, every red blooded American should own a 2011!
818-DVC
$900 is unscrupulous for a frame. I was pissed enough paying 650.
Blank Zero
Thank you very much all for your answer. I went to barsto website and saw the BS40, and I have to say I really like it. Did a little research as it turn out STI made the frame and slide, look like I will go for a BS40 instead. Thank you everyone sooo much, Blank
818-DVC
It's a nice barsto factory 2011. Before you shoot it, get some tuned tubes, and i would get an aftec extractor and trigger job, dehorning, reliability/accuracy job. If there is anything youre going to do, do it up front so you don't deal with the factory gun woes. You will be happy you did. After 5000rds the gun loosened up enough to lower recoil spring weight reducing recoil and gave me a better feel after that. Racking my slide was some excercise until I wore it in. If you atart with a worked over race ready gun and mags, you won't be wishin you did later. Hold off on a special plating/coating until you have at least 10k down the pipe. Irv fits the frame, barrel, and slide pretty tight...I must have hand cycled a few thousand times to get the lockup to engage smoothly. Tell him to put an aftec in, and send it off to Benny Hill. Mine has been a dream after a quick trip to Triangle. He'll even tune your mags for you.
818-DVC
Irv built me a gold cup 10 years ago that has one of his bull barrels in it and SV trigger with a C&S hammer, sear disconnector and leaf spring. If it were single stack legal, I would be shooting SS a lot more. It's my favorite 1911. You don't have to send it out of CA, but Benny hill at triangle sports will make that gun sing forever. Blank Zero
Thank you for your advice guys, I have a few question: 1- What is tune tube? 2- Where can I get all the work done at? Who is Benny Hill? And also who is Irv? Thank you in advance for all your help and advices Regards, Blank
