Switching to Jetloaders

This past weekend I shot a great match. Five very well designed stages with lots of shooting and movement. No shooting boxes, just shooting areas and ports to shoot from.

I did well on the first three stages, with no problems. I shoot with Jetloaders and Comp IIIs. Come to stage four and after I used up my three Jetloaders with no problems I had to reload with the Comp IIIs that had been hitting the ground and had dirt on them.

Two of the Comp IIIs locked up and wouldn't release the ammo. Cost me a great run on a stage that was going very well for me.

I tried them after the match and they just wouldn't fire. So, from now on I'm going to use Jetloaders all the way.

Hope this helps others that shoot in a lot of dirt areas.

I have both speedloaders, while I prefer the Jets because of the simple design they both are suseptable to locking up if dirt is involved. I have to keep mine brushed out. Not much dust here but we do have that nice red mud. later rdd

I just fill the sink with hot water and dish soap and let them soak a while and work the springs and handles. Rinse and blow out with my air compressor. After they are dry I spray mine with some dry lube. Others have said that they spray them with Armor All or some kind of silicone spray. I like the dry lube to keep off the dirt.

Bubber we also have lots of red mud too. Is it much trouble to clean either loaders . do you have to take them apart, or can you leave them intact to clean? Thanks Roger

At a match I will use a scrub brush and whatever water is available. Work it a few time before putting rounds in it. (Push and twist until is sounds right) After the match get some HOT soapy water, use the liquid dish soap, and soak them and work them under the soapy water a few times as mentioned above. You can use some silicon spray But USE NO OIL! It will attract more dust and dirt. I only take mine apart when I feel the need to push the envelope on cutting them down more. Right now most of my speedloaders are not much more thicker than the rim of the case and cut down diameter wise also. Trying to see if I can cut them dwon as much as Mike Henry used to. Later rdd
