DBChaffin
I showed Stage 20 from this years limited nationals to a friend who shoots a lot of NRA Action pistol and has shot the Cup before. He almost immediately said he would go prone at 40 yards in order to get the 6 shots off with the best accuracy in the 5 seconds allotted, but that is because he has practice doing this from the Action pistol. What do you guys think? Waste too much time going down or good idea? I guess there wouldn't be any kind of rule problem huh? I mean, its freestyle and all. Any opinions? The stage description is here: http://www.uspsa.org/results/2001/US_Limit...s/l_stage20.pdf Thanks (Edited by DBChaffin at 10:43 am on Aug. 23, 2001)
PaulW
Too much lost time getting down and settled in. It "really" depends on your confidence though. I would not go prone, I would practice at that distance if I were even a little unsure at that distance.
ErikW
No way Jose, and not just because I shoot better standing. You are going to waste 2 - 3 seconds going prone, versus under 2 for a standing draw. That stage is all about sight picture, trigger control, and follow through. benos
I'd stand. But I'm sure some good guys would go prone... be
Flexmoney
I tried shooting three targets at 40 yards the other day (5 seconds). While I wasn't pressed for time...I don't think I would have enough time to get prone and then shoot.
38supPat
well you know Doug K will go prone 5 secs is tight I know i can do this drill standing at around 4.25 consistantly (did it in 3.99 at the 98 US Nats in Vegas) Stand, draw quickly and smoothly then just watch the sights.
