Running an (new to 3-gun) Albuquerque LE few years back, stage 9 up on a mountain side, start box backed up to an old fence line. Start w/birdshot followed with a bunch of slugs, then rifle. After the LAMR; Me, “Are you ready?” LE (quietly), “Sir, do you know there is snake crawling between our feet?” Me, “What?” LE (a bit louder), “Sir! Do you know there is snake crawling between our feet?” After assessing the situation, Me (quietly), “Shoot it.” LE, “What?” Me (a bit louder), "SHOOT THE F#@%!G THING!!" LE, “YES, SIR!” The rattles were just outside the start box as he reloaded his birdshot and we restarted. It’s the only time I ever recall deviating from proper range commands during a COF!
