Neomet
Best wishes please for my brother-in-law who while working with Oregon DOT was struck while working on the side of the road at 9:30 yesterday evening by a drunk 17 year old traveling 55 mph in a construction zone. Very serious lower leg and pelvis fractures. Thankfully no internal organs damaged and a clean head CT. 4 hours of surgery today, another surgery set for Sunday and several more scheduled in the upcoming weeks. Sparky
I pray your brother in law will make a full recovery. Here in Illinois its a $10,000 fine and 14 years in prison for hitting a roadside construction worker. Its also a $375 fine for first offense of speeding in a construction zone and $1000 fine for the second offense. Again I pray for a full recovery. Having worked on roads in IL I can tell you that its no fun. The fines and penalties are not enough and are not enforced enough. I hope his surgeries go well and he makes a full recovery. SiG Lady
Wow, what an unfortunate situation! Will send lots of good vibes his way. Seriously. We've had a lot of bad DUII incidents here and some have involved fatalities, sad to say. What's even stupider is that many of these incidents involve drivers who are ALSO driving with suspended licenses OR are too under-age to drink! It makes me not want to drive at all sometimes, I swear.
